To always keep up with times, the HRDCorp’s Trainers Development Framework ensures continuous improvement of HRDF / HRD Corp certified and certified Trainers. It forms the basis and standardization for potential trainers to be competent and to understand the industry practices before embarking on a career in training.

Train-The-Trainer Program and Beyond
A charismatic trainer, Mr. Chan Ching Pern (CP) who is graduate with Bachelor Degree (Honours) in Chemical Engineering from the University of Malaya has conducted trainings in various parts of Malaysia, Singapore and China. Armed with the analytical skill gained from the engineering course, this multilingual trainer easily engages his participants with his innate people skills.
CP has trained and helped more than 5,000 people to change for the better in their personal capacities. His participants come from all walks of life, and of various nationalities such as Americans, Britons, French, Colombians, Indonesians, and Australians. His extensive exposure in training has made him adept in catering to the developmental needs of various industries, bearing in mind the dynamics of the different cultures, beliefs, and the background of his participants.

Prior to being a Lead Trainer for HRDF Train-The-Trainer Certification Programme, CP was a Training & Technical Manager with a road safety training and consultancy firm. In his previous role, he was in charge of grooming and maintaining the quality of the trainers and the training programme. Under his charge, he had groomed and developed four Lead Instructors for the firm in 4 years. Apart from grooming internal trainers, he had also conducted Train-The-Trainer Programme for Shell China in 2013 and 2014.
CP has developed many programmes and customized them to the needs of his clients. The experience had given him practical experience in the area of coaching adult learners from various fields. Apart from conducting behaviour-based Defensive Driving & Riding programmes, CP had also delivered trainings in Customer Service, Bridging the Generational Gap, Upselling & Cross selling.
CP is a certified trainer by IVV of UK since 2013 and certified trainer by PSMB since 2011. Being a lifelong learner himself, CP is on a mission to inspire others to keep their passion alive and continue to sharpen their saws.

What qualifications do I need to be a trainer?
You don’t need any special qualifications to be one. You have be passionate about a subject that can help people to improve their lives. There is no specific academic qualification required.
What is the HRDC train the trainer (ttt) certification and who needs it?
It is a 5-days course offered by Human Resource Development Corporation (HRDC) to equip people with the basic skills a trainer needs. It will qualify the holder of the cert to claim from the fund that has been contributed by corporations.
What is HRDC and what is its function?
HRDC is a government agency under the Ministry of Human Resource whose function is to upskill and ensure life-long learning for the Malaysian workforce. To achieve that, it imposes a levy on companies in the country that can be used for training purposes.
What are the benefits of being a trainer?
There are many benefits and some of them include personal development, an opportunity to impact people’s lives, earning a decent income and sharing your passion with others.
What will I learn in this course?
In the TTT course, you will learn basic knowledge to get started as a trainer. The topics include adult learning, training needs analysis (TNA), creating and delivering content, evaluating learning.
Is the HRDC TTT cert enough for me to be a professional trainer?
It will equip you with the basic skills like handling adult learners, designing content and delivery techniques.
How much is the course?
It’s RM2,788. This covers certification, assessment, food, materials and SST.
Is there any exam?
No, there is no exam but you have to do a short presentation at the end of the course which will be assessed in order to obtain your cert.
What is TTT exemption and what are the requirements?
You can apply for exemption from the TTT is you meet the criteria. There are a few ways, but generally, those with training experience (for specific number of years), VTO, Professors, and some certain degrees related to training and development. You can check on the website www.hrdcorp.gov.my or call their hotline 1800884800.
How much can I make as a certified trainer?
There is no specific figure of the amount you can make as a trainer. However, in Malaysia, trainers earn between RM1,000 to RM6,000 per day.
Do I have to do anything to maintain my certification?
Yes, you have to record a video of you doing training (online or f2f) and provide it to HRDC for assessment. You can still start training after you going through the course but you will have to provide the recording within one year.
How much can I claim from the HRDC for training?
If you are doing in-house (directly for the company that engages you), you can claim RM6,000 per day for face to face training. For online, it is RM700 per pax for 7 hours. As for public face-to-face training, you can charge up to RM1,300 per pax per day. For this you have to go under an HRDC-registered training provider company.
Can I also form an HRDC-approved training company?
Yes, you can. You will need to register a company in ROB providing training services and then apply for registration. There will be an annual fee of RM1,000 payable.
